Audience

The audience for this Wiki will be the school community. This includes teachers, support staff, administration, students, and families. The school does not yet even have a school website that is functional or has any relevant information for the school. This would revolutionize the way the school is able to communicate and share information.  I hope that the wiki would serve as a jumping off point to engage the students and the staff in many more technology applications in the classroom!

 

The Wiki's purpose is to involve the entire school community in keeping the entire community current as to the happenings at the school. Most schools only have a webpage, some with very minimal information about what is going on at the school.  Most have some classroom and curriculum links, and maybe an email directory to reach the staff.  I think a wiki works better than a webpage alone, because a webpage can usually only be updated by one person (or a select few) and often the current information a school's webpage gets dated very quickly. 

 

Wikis do not need any html knowledge to create or update a wiki page. Wikis can be updated by anyone, teachers will have full access to update information as frequently as possible.  Students will also have access to updating certain pages.  Some pages will be locked and inaccesible for students to update, but there will be student content pages where they will be free to post ideas, things they have learned, and comments or questions about up coming assignments or activities. Also community pages or a PTA page, where parents and community members can edit content for

 

The Wiki is designed to be a collaboration across the entire school community.  All of the community members should feel that they have the opportunity to update the Wiki and add to it.
